Flights continue; ROP permits some activities

12 Oct 2020

Oman Airports has stated that flight services will continue without any disruptions during the 8pm to 5am night curfew currently in effect till October 24.

In a statement, Oman Airports said, ‘Passengers heading to and from the airport during curfew hours must carry a copy of their flight ticket to avoid fines. Also, individuals driving them or picking up passengers must carry a printed copy of the confirmed flight ticket.’

Meanwhile, Mwasalat has suspended its Muscat-Salalah service until further notice in the wake of the night movement ban.

‘The first day of the curfew in all states of the sultanate witnessed commitment from citizens and residents. ROP is present at various locations in all governorates to prevent family and social gatherings of all kinds throughout the day, and to prevent movement from 8pm to 5am,’ the Royal Oman Police said in a statement.

The sultanate has activated control points during the period to stop any kind of movement between governorates and prevent unauthorised crossings, in addition to closing and monitoring beaches around the clock.

However, the ROP also stated that during the night curfew it will allow one escort to accompany truck drivers besides allowing fishermen’s activities, for which they must coordinate with the Ministry of Agricultural, Fisheries and Water Resources for permits.
