To support small and medium- sized enterprises (SMEs) and promote their products, Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, North Sharqiyah Branch, has launched an e-marketing platform.
Speaking to Muscat Daily, an official at Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, North Sharqiyah Branch, said, “We have created an online marketing platform to help owners of SMEs and artisanal families to promote their projects. Many of them have registered with us.”
He said registration will end on Thursday.
The chamber will hold an electronic exhibition for all the establishments that have registered to promote their products, he added.
Talking about the goals of the platform, the official said, “The platform aims to financially support SMEs. The platform also aims to connect various companies and commercial establishments and promote Omani products through local and international markets. It will ensure the continuation of electronic promotion of products for SMEs and artisanal families in light of the spread of COVID-19.”
The figures from the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) show that the total number of SMEs registered with the Public Authority for SME Development (Riyada) at the end of August 2020 stood at 45,706.
It is an increase of 12.4 per cent compared to the same period of 2019.
Muscat governorate had 15,321 SMEs registered at the end of August 2020, followed by North Batinah with 7,229,Dakhliyah with 5,797, Dhofar with 3,825, South Batinah with 3,390, and North Sharqiyah with 3,096 SMEs registered.
