EA urges boat operators, divers to adhere to COVID-19 preventive measures

The Environment Authority (EA) has urged clubs and individuals who have obtained diving permits to adhere to precautionary measures to limit the spread of COVID-19.

In a statement the authority said, ‘Clubs and individuals who obtained diving permits from the authority must adhere to precautionary measures in addition to the preventive measures from the Ministry of Health.’

It added that yachts, excursion boats and cruise ships should not exceed 70 per cent of their passenger capacity, including crew members. 

Their users should wear face masks, maintain physical distancing and avoid gathering in public places at the site of mooring. Hand sanitisers should be provided to passengers.

EA issued the statementbased on the recent decisions of the Supreme Committee tasked with dealing with COVID-19 and  the maritime circular issued by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology.
