Rural Areas Electricity Company (Tanweer), a member of Nama Group, is making significant efforts to develop and upgrade the electrical network infrastructure in the Special Economic Zone at Duqm (SEZD) at a total cost of RO22.6mn.
Tanweer’s projects in SEZD include; transformer stations, electrical networks in the areas for heavy and light industries, fish industries and exhibition areas, according to a press statement issued by the company.
The company is also upgrading the power station in South Duqm and Duqm North Switching Substation 1. In addition, Tanweer is currently supervising the construction of HV distribution network with a total route length of 67km spread across SEZD planned areas. These projects contribute significantly in the development of Duqm’s electrical infrastructure to meet the current and future electricity demand in the area.
Tanweer recently completed the construction of the primary substations for the Port of Duqm Industrial Lands and Duqm North Switching Station 2. The company is currently in the final commissioning tests stage to complete the primary substation in the light and medium industries area, which will feed the Karwa project and the Chinese Industrial City area. Tanweer’s regional office in SEZD is also constructing extension projects in planned areas with a total cost of RO1mn.
