To provide diversified services and facilitate competitive pricing, the government will launch the third telecommunications service provider project in the sultanate.
“The government wants to introduce the third mobile operator as soon as possible so that Internet prices are competitive,” Eng Said al Ma’awali, Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, said recently.
According to the minister, His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik has ordered the connection of remote areas via Internet and there are plans to implement this via satellites within the first quarter of next year.
The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority determines the price of Internet usage and the government is currently working to introduce the third operator to ensure competitive pricing.
