Public invited to test operational readiness at Muscat airport

22 Sep 2020

Oman Airports is inviting Omani nationals as well as residents in the sultanate to take part in a trial for testing operational readiness of Muscat International Airport on Friday, September 25, ahead of the planned reopening of the airport on October 1.

‘Muscat International Airport will be conducting health screening procedures and COVID-19 testing for all arriving passengers, and so we are inviting 150 volunteers to undergo the full arrival process, including registration, immigration, COVID-19 PCR tests (nasal swabs), and exit through the baggage claim hall,’ stated Oman Airports.

‘In the afternoon, we will be testing our drive-through COVID-19 testing facility with the help of a smaller number of volunteers. As part of the trial, you will receive a free PCR test (worth RO25), with the result communicated to you within 24 hours.’

The participants are requested to complete the registration form online, after which they will receive an approval email to participate in the trial.

The following are the requirements for the applicants:

Bring valid passport and airport pass if you have one.

Attendance is limited to age 12 and above.

Be at the airport at 9am on Friday, September 25.

For health and safety reasons, wear your face mask and maintain social distancing throughout the trial.

The authority added that it looks forward to welcoming the applicants on Friday. ‘Thank you in advance for contributing towards the return of operations at our airports.’
