Paying homage to a Royal Oman Police officer who lost his life in the line of duty, Honourable Lady, the Spouse of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik honoured the martyr’s daughter, Fatima Saud al Rawahi, on her third birthday on Wednesday.
Saud al Rawahi was stabbed to death at Muscat City Centre while on duty on December 30, 2017. A Medal of Bravery was conferred on him by the ROP in February 2018.
Speaking to Muscat Daily, Fatima’s mother Zainab al Ajami said, “This honour by the Honourable Lady, the generous mother of the nation, gives us much pride, besides consolation for me and my daughter.”
Zainab said they will be reminded of the honour whenever they remember Rawahi.
Describing her husband, Zainab said, “He was very kind and affectionate, and at the same time brave and bold. He liked to spend time with children, comforting and playing with them. God has chosen him to be among the martyrs of this country.”
According to Zainab, the courage with which Rawahi died mitigates the intensity of the tragedy and helps her work hard to raise her daughter well, giving Fatima a good upbringing to follow her father’s loyalty for his country.
“I thank the Honourable Lady for her very dear gesture. May God protect His Majesty
Sultan Haitham and the Honourable Lady, and give them health, wellness and long life. May God protect and preserve this nation.”
