In a sign of revival of the ambitious multi-million riyal integrated tourism complex (ITC) project in Yiti, H E Saud bin Hilal al Busaidi, Minister of State and Governor of Muscat, visited the Riviera project site on Monday to inspect progress of the work.
Oman News Agency reported that the field visit was aimed at monitoring progress of the project as Yiti Tourism Development Company (YTDC) is currently leveling land in preparation of work starting in the second quarter of 2021.
The project includes a five and a four-star hotel, a marina, an integrated residential neighbourhood with amenities including educational, health and tourism services, and other complementary facilities.
The project is envisaged on the model of sustainable cities that use clean and alternative energy and that respect international standards for preserving the environment.
In September 2019, YTDC floated a tender to design and build marina works for the ITC project. Within the project’s 1.2mn sqm first phase, YTDC’s tender was to ‘identify the design gaps related to the existing coastal and wadi infrastructure and marina works,’ and to design and build all needed additional work, including modifications, to the coastal infrastructure.
The project was taken over by the erstwhile Oman Investment Fund, which has now been consolidated under the Oman Investment Authority.
