1 Sep 2020

The Supreme Committee in charge of dealing with developments resulting from the spread of COVID-19 held a meeting on Tuesday under the chairmanship of H E Sayyid Hamoud bin Faisal al Busaidi, Minister of Interior and head of the committee.

The committee was briefed on the epidemiological situation of COVID-19 in Oman, which indicates a decrease in infection rates in most governorates, although the hospital-bed occupancy rate is still high.

The committee also studied what a number of other countries in the world are witnessing in the wake of their resuming various activities and businesses.

Due to the lack of a vaccine and treatment of the disease yet, the Supreme Committee stressed that the most effective way to curb its spread is commitment to preventive measures such as wearing masks, physical distancing, hand hygiene and other measures to protect individuals, family members, colleagues and the community.

In the meeting, the Supreme Committee also reviewed a number of related topics in various fields, and directed the competent authorities to study them so that appropriate decisions are taken at the right time, confirming that all its decisions are based on the epidemiological data of the pandemic.
