1 Sep 2020

Kuwait has named a well-known road in the state after the late His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said.

In a statement, the Kuwait Ministers Council said, ‘Based on the supreme order of His Highness the Emir (Sabah al Ahmad al Jaber al Sabah), one of the major roads has been named in memory of the late Sultan Qaboos bin Said in appreciation of the important role he played and his active support to the march of the Gulf Cooperation Council and issues of the Arab and Islamic nations.’

According to the decision, the Seventh Ring Road will now be called Sultan Qaboos bin Said Road.

The Embassy of Oman in Kuwait acknowledged the gesture in a statement saying, ‘The embassy appreciates the generous initiative of the Council of Ministers and the Municipal Council in the sisterly State of Kuwait to implement the orders of His Highness Emir Sabah al Ahmad al Jaber al Sabah (to this effect).’
