Pack right

31 Aug 2020

Packing for travel need not be a nightmare if you do it right. Keep in mind where you are going, for how long, and what you intend doing when placing items in your travel bag. Here are some helpful packing techniques to pack right:

Roll and fold

Roll softer garments and fold stiffer ones. Underwear, T-shirts, jeans, cotton pants, and knitwear won’t wrinkle when rolled tightly. They can be rolled and placed at the bottom of your suitcase.

Folded garments

For your middle layer, start with skirts/trousers. Place the garments along the length of the suitcase, alternating waists with hems. Next, lay shorter items, like shirts, along the breadth. Finally, snake belts around the perimeter of the bag.

Cover with a dry-cleaning bags

The slippery surface of dry-cleaning bags don’t allow creases to set, so place a bag between each layer of clothing. To approach each layer, simply pull the ends of the bag up on either side.

First things first
Place what you will need first on the top of the pile. This could be anything from a bathing suit or pyjamas, to attire for your first trip outdoors after arrival.
