31 Aug 2020 By MOHAMMED TAHA

Dr Abdullah bin Ali al Omari, chairman of Environment Authority, and specialists from the Governorate of South Batinah recently visited the Damaniyat Islands Nature Reserve for an inspection and to monitor the progress of work carried out at sites frequented by campers.

Following the inspection, the Environment Authority announced that camping activity in the reserve will resume on November 1.

The chairman of the authority urged the specialists in the reserve to continue work and further efforts to protect the reserve from pollution.

He also urged the management of the authority in South Batinah governorate – in coordination with competent authorities – to get rid of construction waste and other solid waste that resulted after the completion of a new reserve building.

At the conclusion of the visit, Dr Omari thanked all the employees of the reserve for their hard work and eagerness to preserve the site.

He also praised their efforts to enforce the environmental laws.

Announcing the resumption of camping activities in the reserve on November 1, the authority said, ‘We would like to remind everyone that from the beginning of May till the end of October, which is the nesting season, camping in the Damaniyat Islands Nature Reserve is prohibited.’
