Honey production rises by 38%: NCSI

The production of honey in the sultanate increased by 38 per cent by the end of 2019, recording production of 615,752kg compared to 443,477kg in 2018.

According to the statistical yearbook of the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI), the highest production of honey in 2019 was recorded in the governorates of North Sharqiyah and South Sharqiyah combined, accounting for 202,259kg

These were followed by the governorates of North Batinah and South Batinah combined with production of 185,391kg. 

The Governorate of Dhahirah produced 83,702kg of honey.

The NCSI statistical yearbook also pointed out that the production of honey in the Governorate of Dhofar was 59,246kg, while production in the governorates of Dakhliyah and Al Wusta was56,279kg and 14,946kg, respectively.

The production of honey in the Governorate of Buraimi was 6,959kg as per the NCSI.

The governorates of Muscat and Musandam produced  5,788kg and 1,182kg of honey respectively.
