Southwesterly winds from the Arabian Sea and cloud formation in western India will impact the weather of Muscat for the next 24 hours.
Though there were no chances of rains in the city, mild to moderate rains were expected in and around the areas of Al Hajar Mountains including Dakhliyah and Sharqiyah starting from Sunday afternoon.
Muscat witnessed clouds and a drop in temperature since the early hours on Sunday. An official from the Directorate General of Meteorology said, “This is a normal weather condition for this time of the year where we have clouds and mild showers. It is because of the impact from the Arabian Sea as well as the monsoons in India. Due to this, there will be a drop in temperature and we expect it to go below 35°C. We expect dense clouds in Muscat on Monday but no rains.”
The official added that there will be no over-flooding of wadis and the change in weather will be for a short period of time.
He warned people venturing into the seas as waves in Oman Sea will be as much as 2m high while those in the Arabian Sea will be 4m.
