Municipality lays down guidelines for dine-in

As part of its efforts to limit the spread of COVID-19, Muscat Municipality has issued fresh guidelines to receive customers in tourist and international restaurants.

The municipality stated that the owners of tourist and international restaurants are required to apply a set of health specifications. These include registering names and details of employees and customers when entering and leaving the restaurant.

Also, tables must be arranged in a way that they are at least two metres apart; a space of at least two metres must be ensured between customers in corridors and shared spaces within the restaurant; tables should not have more than four people seated at a time; one-time use menus must be provided and customers are required to wear face-masks at all times while in the restaurant, except when eating.

The management should also provide appropriate personal protective equipment for the staff, besides hand sanitizers.

The decision also states that magazines and newspapers should not be distributed in waiting or common areas of the restaurant.

Temperatures of the staff should be checked and those who show symptoms such as high temperatures and cough should be isolated. All employees must have their temperatures checked daily at the beginning of every shift, and every six hours after that, temperatures must be recorded. Customers with temperatures exceeding 37 degrees must not be allowed into the facility.

Customers must also adhere to a social distance of two metres at all times and must not touch tables, chairs, or any equipment or items other than their own.

The municipality has urged everyone to abide by the requirements and asked people to report any violation of health requirements in restaurants.
