Night curfew comes to an end today

15 Aug 2020

Three-week nationwide movement ban during the nights which was put in place to contain the spread of COVID-19 has come to an end from today (Saturday).

In a statement, the Royal Oman Police (ROP) thanked the public for the support during the nationwide movement ban. ‘Based on the decision of the Supreme Committee the movement ban will end on August 15 at 5am. We would like to thank all citizens and residents for their cooperation in implementing this,’ ROP said.

Announcing the end of the movement ban, the Supreme Committee urged the public to adhere to precautionary measures to contain the spread of virus. ‘The Committee calls upon everyone to continue to strictly adhere to wearing face masks, keep physical distancing and maintain hand hygiene along with other preventive measures in order to curb the spread of Coronavirus,’ the statement said.

The initial two week night curfew (7pm-6am) was imposed from July 25 to August 8 and later extended by a week with reduced timing of 9pm-5am.
