Few violations during lockdown: ROP

9 Aug 2020

The lockdown during the Eid al Adha holidays has been successful in bringing down COVID-19 infection rates in the country, thanks to strict adherence of the restrictive measures by the populace. According to the Royal Oman Police (ROP), very few violations were reported during the lockdown period.

In a statement, ROP thanked people for their cooperation. ‘ROP thanks the citizens and residents for their cooperation and commitment to take preventive measures to limit the spread of the coronavirus during the Eid al Adha holiday period,’ it said.

‘The data registered with the General Department of Operations indicated that limited violations were recorded during the period, the most prominent of which was the lack of commitment to wearing masks,’ it said, adding, ‘The Royal Oman Police continues to implement the decision of the Supreme Committee to deal with COVID-19 related to preventing movement from 9pm until 5am.’

During the Eid al Adha holiday period, ROP had imposed enhanced supervision to prevent gatherings, as part of the efforts made to limit the spread of the coronavirus. ‘ROP continues to receive all reports related to violating the decisions of the Supreme Committee and to deal with them in coordination with the competent authorities.’
