All foreigners, including residents of Oman, coming into the sultanate will be subject to institutional quarantine for 14 days while citizens would be allowed to take up domestic quarantine.
The movement of all those arriving will be monitored through a tracking bracelet available on arrival at the airport for RO5. In addition, foreigners must be able to present confirmation of institutional quarantine accommodation and means to cover its expenses.
Based on the decisions of the Supreme Committee for dealing with COVID-19, the Public Authority for Civil Aviation (PACA) has notified all airlines operating in the sultanate of the new measures.
Aircraft crew are exempted from the 14-day quarantine and are subject to the precautionary measures issued by the Ministry of Health. ‘Arriving passengers shall be required to download and start the registration process on the Tarassud+ application as well as pay an amount of RO5 to obtain a tracking bracelet to wear during quarantine,’ stated PACA in its circular to airlines.
Non-Omanis are allowed to enter Oman only under a permit issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs via their embassy or sponsor or national airlines (Oman Air and Salam Air), it added.
Foreign diplomats returning to Oman are excluded from getting prior permissions but will have to go for domestic quarantine of 14 days.
For departures, Omani citizens need to have health insurance valid in the country to which they are travelling. ‘Passenger shall comply with the conditions of the country to which they are travelling to and citizens and foreigners are allowed to travel from Oman without permit,’ PACA stated.
