There are no plans yet to reopen mosques for the faithfuls, Minister of Health said on Thursday.
The members of the Supreme Committee to deal with COVID-19 are aware of the request to open mosques, however, preserving people’s lives remains the priority, said H E Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed al Sa’eedi, Minister of Health.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday, he said, “There are no plans to reopen mosques soon. The virus is still very active.”
H E Dr Sa’eedi said that mosques, which have been closed since March due to the coronavirus outbreak, attract large gatherings which is dangerous.
“It is too early to announce a date to reopen mosques. Any place that has large gatherings is dangerous,” he said.
