4 Jun 2020 By SHADDAD AL MUSALMY

The Supreme Committee dealing with COVID-19, which has decided to temporarily stop the printing and distribution of all print newspapers, magazines and marketing material, will issue a clarification on restarting the newspapers in the meeting next week.

H E Dr Ahmed al Sa’eedi, Minister of Health and member of the Supreme Committee, said, “Next week, a clarification will be issued by the Supreme Committee on restarting the newspapers.”

He added that the issue is not forgotten and that officials are aware of the concern. The printing of such publications were stopped since March in a move to combat the spread of COVID-19.

Dr Saif al Abri, director general of disease surveillance and control, MoH, said there are studies that show the virus doesn’t transmit through paper.

“Some recommendations on this aspect will be submitted to the Supreme Committee,” he said.
