The Ministry of Health (MoH) on Wednesday confirmed 738 new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), taking the total to 13,538.
Among the newly diagnosed cases, 324 are Omanis and 414 expatriates.
The total number of deaths has reached 67 with eight more deaths reported on Wednesday itself. The overall number of recoveries is now 2,845. ‘The overall number of recoveries rose from 2,812 on Tuesday to 2,845 Wednesday,’ an MoH statement said.
Al Wusta, which was left untouched by the pandemic till two weeks back, now has 110 cases, with 68 of them reported on Wednesday. Dhofar (33) and Musandam (8), have the lowest number of cases. While in Muscat, the total crossed the 10,000 mark on Wednesday.
MoH calls upon all to adhere to the isolation procedures by staying in an isolated room with an attached toilet and serving the isolated person from outside the room as instructed. It said that social distancing also helps curb the spread of the virus.
MoH advises all citizens and residents to keep on washing hands with water and soap, avoiding touching the face, nose, mouth, and eyes and following healthy habits when coughing and sneezing.
