ROP cracks whip against violators during Eid

Royal Oman Police ( ROP) arrested or issued notices to more than 136 people on the first day of COVID-19for violating the decisions of the Supreme Committee dealing with COVID-19.

In Muscat Governorate, 34 expatiates were arrested for gathering and playing cricket in Al Ansab and administrative action was taken against them. ‘Forty more were arrested in Ghala industrial zone for gathering and holding Eid prayers. In Al Khoudh, 13 expatiates, gathered on the roof of a building faced arrest and legal action,’ ROP said in a statement.

In other governorates, many arrests were also made. ‘In North Sharqiyah, a group of people indulging in camel sport were arrested for gathering in a public place in Sinaw. In Dhofar, several notices were issued against those not wearing masks and other violations,’ ROP stated.
