UPDATES: The 8th press conference of the Supreme Committee

  •  Minister of Health: We appeal to all who recover from COVID-19 to donate blood plasma for treatment of COVID-19 patients
  •  
  • Ministry of Foreign Affairs: 2,500 expatriate workers left to thier countries, most of them from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, in around 16 flights.
  •  
  • The Minister of Health: We have noticed an increase in the number of infections among Omanis recently due to the lack of compliance with the procedures for community separation and gatherings.
  •  
  • Minister of Health: If physical distancing of two meters is maintained, it is not required to wear masks. The number of cases in hospital is 122, of which 32 are in intensive care.

  • Minister of Transport: The aviation sector needs a long period to return to its former self. We are working to achieve the necessary conditions and controls in preparation for the return of air traffic

  • The number of those who were treated with plasma in the Sultanate reached 25, with 18 cases improving .

  • Minister of Health: We studied experiences of several countries regarding imposing curfews and decided not to do it due to it being unsuccessful in preventing the spread of virus.

  • Dr.Saif Al-Abri: Most of the deaths occurred in the intensive care unit, many of them are late in seeking healthcare and most of the COVID-19 deaths have occured as a result of chronic symptoms and delay in reaching the hospital.

  • Public Prosecutor: Any gathering of 5 or more people in a space/house – of those who do not reside there – will be considered a violation of decisions of Supreme Committee

  • Public Prosecutor: RO 100 fine for anyone participating in gatherings, including holiday gatherings, weddings and places of worship, and RO 200 fine for those who do not adhere to the institutional and domestic quarantine and RO 20 fine for who don’t wear Mask.

  • Public Prosecutor: We have dealt with 110 reports of violations related to the spread of Covid19 since middle of March & 18 prosecuted

  • Minister of Transport: The public transportation will return be gradual and with new controls

  • ROP will monitor the commitment of individuals and institutions to the decisions.

  • Minister of Transport: Domestic aviation will return first in the Sultanate and there is no specific date for the return of air traffic.

  • There has been no death in Oman due to a problem in the health sector. Health institutions here are able to deal with the epidemiological situation and the high number of infections.
