Strict penalties will be imposed on people who fail to comply with the precautionary measures issued by the Supreme Committee for dealing with COVID-19.
Public Prosecution said those who do not abide by the decisions will face fines up to RO1500.
In a press conference, HE Nasr bin Khamis bin al Sawai, Public Prosecutor, said that the police have been given the authority to enter public and private institutions and that fines will be slapped on the offenders.
He said that fine for gathering per person is RO100. “Also, the fine for not wearing masks is RO20, while a fine of RO200 will be imposed on those who are not committed to institutional and domestic quarantine.”
Also, a fine of RO 1,500 will be slapped on anyone found to be organising gatherings.
“There will be a number of fines for violators and this money will be transferred to the coronavirus fund. This is in addition to imprisonment for the offenders for upto 48 hours,” he said.
