10 May 2020

To instil a culture of innovation and enhance uptake of scientific knowledge, Wilayat of Ibri, Dhahirah Governorate, is planning to develop an Ibri Science and Innovation Centre.

A tender has been floated for the construction work of the project which is seen as one of several sustainable social development projects being implemented by the private sector in various governorates of the sultanate.

Dr Khalaf bin Salim al Ishaqi, Wali of Ibri, disclosed that the Ibri Science and Innovation Centre is funded by OQ as part of its corporate social responsibility initiative under the supervision of Jusoor Foundation.

OQ is the new brand identity launched by Oman Oil and Orpic Group, which has integrated nine core businesses under one brand.

Dr Ishaqi added that the project will be implemented on an area of 1,565 sqm adjacent to the Ibri Hospital.

The project consists of a multi-purpose hall, a library, a theatre equipped with sound and light infrastructure, an astronomical observatory dome, a ballroom, and a center for science and innovation.
