A special flight from Muscat International Airport took 145 Syrians back home on Saturday.
“Any Syrian citizen who wanted to go back to Damascus was welcome onboard,” said Said H E Seif al Khatib, ambassador of Syria to Oman. “Of course, priority was given to special cases like senior citizens and people with medical needs. If there is need, we will arrange another flight.”
He added that all travellers upon arrival in Damascus would need to follow the 14 day quarantine at the free facility provided by the Syrian government.
“We have requested the national carrier SyrianAir to provide the cheapest possible ticket, to which they have agreed and we are running this flight with no profit.”
