No clothes were burnt in tailor shops in Muttrah: MM

6 May 2020

The Goverrnement Communication Centre has stated that the practice of the tailoring profession during this lockdown period is in violation of the decisions of the Supreme Committee for COVID-19 but clarified that Muscat Municipality has not burnt any clothes as is being rumoured.

It called on everyone not to spread rumours and get information from official sources only.

‘Decisions of the Supreme Committee should be followed to avoid any legal accountability that may arise as a result of its violation,’ the statement said.

Meanwhile, Barka Municipality said that it had raided a tailoring facility in one of the farms and an expatriate worker was arrested for running the tailoring business without a permit.

The municipality said that it confiscated the tools used on site and has taken legal measures against the offenders.

The municipality explained that the raid was in support of a Royal Oman Police directive and called on everyone to adhere to the decisions of the Supreme Committee in charge of COVID-19.
