Muscat lockdown extended till May 29

The lockdown of Muscat Governorate has been extended till May 29 while the academic year for public and private schools in Oman will end on May 7. The extension of lockdown also applies to Wilayat Muttrah and Jalan Bani Bu Ali.

In its meeting, chaired by H E Sayyid Hammoud bin Faisal al Busaidi, Minister Interior, the Supreme Committee for dealing with COVID-19 reviewed the pandemic’s development, preventive measures and ways to avoid its spread, and decided to extend the lockdown period.

Thursday, May 7, 2020, will be the last day of the school academic year for public and private schools in Oman, the Supreme Committee for dealing with the COVID-19 announced on Tuesday.

The Supreme Committee has authorised the Ministry of Education to adopt the appropriate alternative methods to calculate the results of students and the mechanism for promotion of students from grades one to 12.

The Ministry of Education said that details will be announced during a press conference to be held on Thursday. “The Ministry of Education will share details on appropriate alternatives on Thursday,”  an MoE statement said.
