Trough of low pressure to bring rain over most parts of Oman till May 4

Muscat along with many other governorates are expected to receive rainfall for three days as the country is affected by a trough of low pressure.  

The weather analysis of the National Multi Hazard Early Warning Centre indicates that a trough of low pressure, named Al-Brakat, will affect the sultanate from Saturday, May 2 till Monday, May 4, 2020. 

The weatherman stated that rainfall with varied intensity and occasional thundershowers accompanied with hail over is expected over Musandam, extending gradually to affect governorates of Buraimi, Dhahira, North Batinah, South Batinah, Muscat, Dakhliya, North Sharqiya and South Sharqiya. Chance of isolated rain is also expected over the mountains and coastal areas of Dhofar governorate. 

The trough of low pressure will also be associated with moderate to fresh southeasterly wind over governorates of Al Wusta and Dhofar which will cause rising of dust.  

The sea state will be moderate over most of coastal areas of governorate of Musandam and coastal areas of Gulf of Oman with maximum wave height of 2.5 meters. 

The Public Authority for Civil Aviation advices all to take precaution during rain and overflowing of wadis and to check the visibility and sea state before sailing and follow the instruction of the Supreme Committee for Dealing with COVID -19 to stay home and never leave unless it is really necessary.
