Restrictions on inter-governorate movement lifted, Muscat lockdown to continue


The restriction on movement between governorates was lifted on Wednesday morning, while maintaining the control and checkpoints in Muscat Governorate.

The Royal Oman Police (ROP) said that the control checkpoints between various governorates came to a halt from 6am on Wednesday while checks in Muscat Governorate would remain in place.

Meanwhile, ROP said that health isolation in the wilayats of Muttrah and Muscat and the commercial market in the Wilayat of Jalan Bani Bu Ali will continue until further notice.

“ROP calls on all citizens and residents to reduce movement between governorates to protect public health,” ROP said in a statement.

On its part, Sultan’s Armed Forces confirmed its readiness to support the efforts of the Supreme Committee and its decisions aimed at limiting the spread of COVID-19 pandemic and mitigating its effects, whenever the situation required.

“We hail the cooperation of citizens and residents throughout the activation of these checkpoints which demonstrated the support to national efforts to achieve safety and good health or all,” it said.
