27 Apr 2020

The Ministry of Health (MoH) on Monday announced registration of another 51 Novel Coronavirus cases in Oman. Of these 51 cases, 37 are Omani nationals and 14 non-Omanis, taking the total to 2,049 cases.

The ministry said that altogether 364 patients have recovered and ten have died. Even though today’s cases comprise of only 14 non-Omanis, expatiates are still big percentage in total.

MoH has announced that the recovery rate in Oman is good. Mortality rate in Oman is less compared to other countries. There are more COVID-19 patients who have recovered completely in Oman.
Oman was expecting to witness the peak of COVID-19 infections between April 23 to 30 with around 500 infections a day if no proper precautions were taken. However, Monday’s less number of cases brings hope that fewer cases would be reported in the coming days.

MoH calls upon all to adhere to the isolation procedures. The Ministry also advises all citizens and residents to keep on washing hands with water and soap, avoiding touching the face, nose, mouth, and eyes and following the healthy habits when coughing and sneezing.

The Ministry urges everyone to adhere strictly to social and physical distancing instructions especially during Ramadan urging people to staying at home and not going out unless necessary.
