To commemorate World Intellectual Property Day which falls on April 26, the Ministry of Manpower (MoM) announced that 698 innovative ideas were registered in the Open Data Portal of the Ministry’s website.
The day is celebrated to learn about the role that intellectual property (IP) rights play in promoting creativity and innovation. The theme this year for the World Intellectual Property Day is ‘Innovate for a Green Future’.
The ministry stated, “The rate of innovation among students of technical and vocational colleges registered with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) increased by 10 per cent by the end of March 2020.’
The Ministry added that the average percentage of innovations for students of theses technical and vocational college was three per cent in 2019 and two per cent in 2018.
The Ministry confirmed that it had selected 63 employees from all technical and vocational colleges to spread the culture of innovation among students and encourage them to present and develop their ideas.
The open data portal of the Ministry’s website contributes to providing accurate data for present and future needs and to display the experiences of beneficiaries of these services. The number of beneficiaries until April 2020 reached 225,000.
