As part of its efforts to provide enough vegetables and fruits, the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries (MoAF) has raised the number of working hours from 15 to 24 to receive agricultural shipments at Sohar port.
The ministry stated that it is making efforts around the clock in checking and inspecting imports to ensure that the vegetables, fruits and field crops are free of pests and plant diseases before entering the sultanate’s markets.
The ministry said the number of shipments per day exceeds 35 in all of the sultanate’s ports and they reach 40 at peak time in the period before Eid al Fitr.
The ministry is working to follow up on agricultural exports and imports to meet the needs of the Omani markets across the country, by integrating with local agricultural products during the holy month of Ramadan.
