3.9mn Internet users in Oman

The number of Internet users in Oman is approximately 3.9mn, according to seventh report for ‘Internet in the Arab world’, published by the Arabic Network for Human Rights Information (ANHRI).

The number of Facebook users in Oman is about 1.6mn and Twitter users is about 200,000.

The report stated that more than half of the Arab world’s population use the Internet, and more than a third use Facebook. It stated that among the approximately 420mn Arabs, the number of Internet users exceeds 220mn and about 159mn access Facebook.

It stated that the number of Internet users in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries is about 51.1mn, including 3.9mn in Oman, 30mn in Saudi Arabia, 9.5mn in the UAE, 4.1mn in Kuwait and 2.1mn in Qatar.

The report stated that the number of Facebook users in the GCC countries is 35.9mn and Twitter users is about 16.55mn.

It stated that the number of Internet users in Egypt is 55mn, which is slightly more than half of the population. Among these, 46mn use Facebook and 7.5mn use Twitter.
