The Ministry of Health (MoH) has said that 98 new cases of Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) were registered on Tuesday, taking the total to 1,508. Of the 98 new cases, 39 are Omanis and 59 expatriates. The number of recoveries remained 238, the same as Monday.

 

 

While Muscat governorate tops the list with 1,164 cases, Al Wusta has no case till date. On Tuesday, the ministry reported the death of a 53 year old resident, the eighth COVID-19 related fatality in the sultanate.

 

Clinics operational at Ibri Hospital

In a statement on the official Twitter account OmanVSCovid19, the Omani government has said there is no truth in the news being circulated about the closure of all clinics at Ibri Hospital. ‘The truth is that as a precaution, the number of clinic visitors has been reduced. Appointments are being rescheduled according to priority.’

Health review at GCC level

The Undersecretaries of the Ministries of Health in the GCC states have discussed the latest COVID-9 developments. The video conference reviewed about the steps to be taken in the health sector after the end of the pandemic.

 

MoT, OCCI meet

H E Maitha al Mahrouqi, Undersecretary in the Ministry of Tourism (MoT) held a video conference with the chairman and members of the Tourism Committee of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) to discuss the effects of the crisis on the tourism sector.

 

Workers arrested

The Ministry of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources has said that South Sharqiyah Municipality in cooperation with ROP has arrested workers who were sewing clothes inside a house in the wilayat of Jalaan Bani Bu Ali. ‘This is in contravention of the decisions of the Supreme Committee for dealing with COVID-19.’
