The Ministry of Health (MoH) has announced that it has received 1mn tablets of hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) from the Republic of India.

A statement issued online by the Ministry of Health on Monday stated, ‘We purchased 1mn tablets of hydroxychloroquine from India, which we have approved as one of the medicines used to treat COVID-19.’

The statement added, ‘We wish to express our thanks to the concerned authorities in the friendly Republic of India for facilitating the granting of permission to obtain this medicine through the  diplomatic communication  between the two countries.’

Muscat Daily had earlier reported that India is processing Oman’s request for the tablets.  A source in the Indian government had said, “We are processing the request to send 10 lakh [1mn] HCQ tablets to Oman. The request is being processed at the highest level.”
