The Ministry of Health (MoH) announced the registration of 144 new cases of Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) on Monday morning, taking the total to 1,410 in Oman.
This is the biggest single-day jump of new cases. Earlier, 128 was the highest single-day figure which was recorded on April 13. Of the 144 new cases, 58 were Omani citizens and 86 non-Omanis. The total number of deaths till date have been seven.
Recoveries continue at good pace, going up by five from Sunday, taking the total to 238.

Hospital directors meet
The Ministry of Health, represented by the Directorate General of Specialised Medical Care on Monday held a meeting through video conferencing involving hospitals’ directors.
The meeting, which was chaired by Dr Kadhim Ja’far Suleiman, director general of specialised medical care, MoH, aimed at addressing a range of topics related to strengthening performances of hospitals amid the current spread of COVID-19 pandemic and the pressure it placed on the various health services.
The meeting touched upon the commencement of the first phase of ventilators’ distribution to hospitals in addition to other preventive and consumable materials used during patient screening.
The meeting also discussed the distribution of coronavirus testing machines (PCR) to a number of hospitals, as well as regulating work at the hospitals’ outpatient clinics and performing necessary surgeries.
A number of different topics and proposals were also reviewed towards promoting hospitals services amid the pandemic.
