Oman Environmental Service Holding Company (be’ah), which manages the waste sector in Oman, is collecting around 2.5 tonnes of waste every day from 40 quarantine centres across the sultanate.
In a tweet, be’ah said that it is coordinating with healthcare institutions to deal with Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) related medical waste.
‘This medical waste is put in double-sealed bags. Our workers are following strict protocols like wearing N95 mask, goggles and other protective equipment to collect this waste. This waste is kept in separate containers and transported to treatment facility. This is either treated by thermal technologies or by autoclave.’
Be’ah said that bins, containers and trucks are sterilised too as part of the overall process.
