COVID-19 outbreak: Over 700 cases, 124 recoveries

Oman continues to report a high number of Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases as the authorities intensified the testing process, especially in the wilayat of Muttrah, Muscat governorate. 

On Monday, the Ministry of Health (MoH) announced the registration of 128 cases bringing the total to 727. According to MoH, this is the maximum number of cases recorded in a day. The total number of those who have recovered has touched 124 including 15 new recoveries. 

‘Four persons have lost their lives, two citizens and two residents.’ MoH said that six screening centres in Muttrah are only for those with COVID-19 symptoms such as fever, cough, flu, sore throat, or shortness of breath.  The screening time is from 9am until 1pm. 

Sohar Aluminium buys masks, goggles 

Sohar Aluminium has announced funding the purchase of 50,000 protective N95 masks as well as 20,000 disposable protective goggles to support MoH’s efforts in combating COVID-19.  

BP Oman supports COVID-19 fight 

BP Oman has said that it’s providing smart TVs and iPads to help connect health teams in various centres across the country. ‘We are also providing medical equipment to Nizwa Hospital to help in the fight against COVID-19. We are equipping the new ICU department,’ BP Oman tweeted. 

OCCI calls on firms

Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) has called on private sector institutions working in the field of food, consumer and medical goods sector to use warehouses provided by government institutions.
