11 Apr 2020

The Indian Embassy in Muscat is receiving a lot of queries from members of the Indian community seeking information on resumption of flights to India or arrangement of special flights for their urgent travel to India.

The Ministry of External Affairs, India on Friday also made a statement regarding Indians abroad requesting for return to the country.

‘Given the ongoing lockdown, we are not able to give a definite answer with regard to return of Indians abroad, we need to assess situation and decide at a later stage.’

The Indian Embassy in Muscat stated, ‘In order to effectively deal with the prevailing COVID-19 situation in India, a complete lockdown has been imposed throughout India till April 14, 2020. All passenger flights to and from India have also been suspended. At this juncture, there are no plans to arrange special flights to India from Oman. It is advised that Indian community members may stay indoors, stay safe wherever they are in Oman and follow the guidelines of Government of Oman.’

The embassy will make official announcement once the decision is taken, it stated. Meanwhile, the embassy has asked people to use this link https://bit.ly/2xe4i1A to help in compilation of data.
