Movement in Muscat will be restricted under lockdown period

The Supreme Committee in charge of dealing with COVID-19 pandemic on Wednesday announced lockdown in Muscat governorate from April 10, to curb the spread of the virus in the sultanate.

The Supreme Committee in charge of dealing with COVID-19 pandemic on Wednesday announced lockdown in Muscat governorate from April 10, to curb the spread of the virus in the sultanate.

The main aim of the lockdown is to limit movement in and out of Muscat which has recorded the maximum number of cases.

With regard to Muscat lockdown, Brig Gen Said al Asmi, told Muscat Daily that, people’s movement from and to Muscat will be banned except for emergencies. “We request the public to understand the main reason behind the lockdown. Lockdown means no movement from or to Muscat governorate will be allowed except in case of an emergency.”

However, all outlets selling essential items will remain open. “As for Muscat, necessary outlets will remain open and essential movement is allowed. But, we request people to stay at home,” he said.
