Paid parking system suspended in Muscat

2 Apr 2020

Muscat Municipality on Wednesday suspended paid parking system in the governorate until further notice.

The move comes after the Supreme Committee decision that all government staff should work from home as part of safety measures against the spread of Novel Coronavirus. Private sector too had been asked to take necessary measures to reduce the number of employees to the minimum possible for the continuation of work.

Speaking to Muscat Daily , a Muscat Municipality official, “We have suspended the paid system. There will be no fines if people park their vehicles in the paid area. Anyways most of the offices are closed in the city and very few are parking their vehicles in the paid areas.”

Bhaskar K, a resident of CBD said, “I bought a two-month parking ticket for RO30 in the last week of March. It’s valid till May end. If they have made it free, will they extend the validity period?”
