MoT floats tender to develop cave area in Dhofar

The Ministry of Tourism (MoT) has called on firms to invest in Dhofar’s Kahf Hayoor area in Jebel Samhan. This is part of its plan to create high-quality tourist services and facilities in the area.

MoT has floated an international consultancy services tender to develop the infrastructure of the area. International companies and institutions not registered in the sultanate too can bid for the tender.

The ministry confirmed that the project components include but are not limited to restaurant(s), roads and car parking(s), signage system, camping area, view platform with suitable binocular(s), visitor paths, landscaping and covered seating areas. 

The consulting engineer will develop concepts, preliminary and detailed design proposals, prepare tender documents, and assist with issuing the construction tender, evaluation and awarding. 

The services will also include supervision of the construction in the area. 

The ministry has urged interested parties to visit etendering.tenderboard.gov.om for details. The deadline for submission is April 13, 2020.

The ministry constantly aims to boost its tourist services and facilities so that tourists can enjoy the different aspects of Omani culture.

Sahour Cave in Dhofar, Majlis al Jinn Cave in the wilayat of Quriyat in Muscat and Al Kitan Cave in Ibri in Dhahirah are some of the prominent caves in the country.

Tanfeedh developed 15 tourism initiatives to enhance the tourism sector. Such initiatives include encouraging private investment in natural sites and adventure tourism.
