The Ministry of Heritage and Culture (MHC) on Tuesday opened an exhibition titled ‘Archaeology of the Wilayat of Al Mudhaibi’ at the Al Khubaib Fort under the patronage of Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Ahmed al Mayassi, deputy governor of Mudhaibi.
The exhibition comes within the framework of the continuation of the archaeological survey and research programme implemented by the ministry with the University of Tübingen, Germany.
An official source at the Ministry of Heritage and Culture said, “The exhibition includes information boards on the time periods and archaeological sites of the North Sharqiyah governorate, in addition to displaying excavation works being carried out at Al Khashaba site.”
He added, “The site contains the oldest smelting and copper production workshops in Oman, dating back to the beginning of the 3rd millennium BC.”
