The achievements of Oman Air during the past year came as a result of efforts made to improve ground and air services, open new direct routes, besides signing code-sharing agreements with many international airlines, said an official.
Saleem bin Amanullah bin Abdul Hussain, senior head of Ground Services at Oman Air, also expressed optimism that this growth will continue in the coming years, in order to achieve the set goals, the most important of which is reducing losses, reaching the break-even during 2023.
He said in a statement that 2019 was a good year for the company that managed to overcome a number of challenges, thanks to the solidarity of the efforts of the employees despite the geopolitical changes in the region and the suspension of the operations of five Boeing 737 Max aircraft of the company, which affected the expansion plans and programmes during that period.
He added that one of the successes credited to Oman Air is that it was able to achieve outstanding performance in the On-Time Performance Index, reaching 90 per cent in the average rate of meeting the takeoff schedule during 2019, which reflects the company’s commitment to passengers, and places it among the best-performing airlines globally in terms of meeting takeoff schedules.
He pointed out that the company’s achievement of 90 per cent in the average rate of meeting the takeoff schedule during 2019 is credited to the various teams of the company that are working hard to achieve results and successes in the record of the national carrier of the sultanate and its employees.
“One-minute delay of aircraft costs the company about US$100, in addition to losing customer confidence in the company.”
With regard to the speedy completion of travel procedures, Hussain assured that the procedures for the economy class does not exceed 15 minutes and for the business class only five minutes, which are records, compared to many airlines. He called passengers to take advantage of the services provided by the Oman Air website to complete reservations and travel procedures.
