A meeting to review and follow-up the ongoing efforts of the medical and public health response sector to tackle the Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) with the concerned authorities was convened on Sunday. The meeting was held at the Ministry of Health’s Centre for Emergency Management.
The meeting was chaired by H E Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed al Sa’eedi, Minister of Health, in the presence of H E Dr Mohammed Saif al Hosni, Undersecretary for Health Affairs, in the Ministry of Health.
A number of officials from the Sultan’s Armed Forces, Royal Oman Police, and Public Authority for Civil Defence and Ambulances also took part in the meeting.
The meeting also highlighted the key measures that have been taken by the ministry, with the cooperation of several parties, in response to the Novel Coronavirus outbreak.
Discussions were also held to review the emergency plans activated at the land, sea and air entry points’ as well as coordination between the Ministry of Health and other authorities. The meeting also underlined the public health emergency plans and the significance of coordination among health authorities on all levels and specialties.
In addition, the private health sector readiness and their role in this regard was reviewed. Meanwhile, H E Dr Sa’eedi also expressed gratitude to all the relevant stakeholders for their work towards public interest and ensuring the sultanate is prepared to tackle such outbreaks.
