As more and more people become aware of the need to keep the environment clean, 80 people came together for a beach clean-up in Ras al Hadd in South Sharqiyah during the weekend. The beach cleaning campaign was part of a series of events conducted by the Ministry of Tourism in association with Oman Cancer Association and Sur Club for Cycling.
The volunteers collected 80 bags full of waste at Ras al Hadd beach.
Speaking to Muscat Daily, Nasser Musallam al Araimi, head of Sur Club for Cycling, said, “The beach clean-up was part of our campaign titled ‘Racing for their cure’ which looked to create awareness on cancer patients. In addition to a cycling event, the campaign also included recreational games and a lecture to spread health awareness among members of the society.”
Araimi added, “Sur Club for Cycling will continue organising similar events to maintain the cleanliness of Oman’s shores and create awareness among the public.”
