The Competition Protection and Monopoly Prevention Centre (CPMPC) participated in the first Gulf Competition Agencies Conference in Kuwait. The conference was held under the title ‘Competition policy towards new horizons’.
Organised by the Kuwaiti Competition Protection Agency, in cooperation with the World Bank, it sought to support aspects of cooperation and communication with international and regional organisations and relevant agencies in the GCC countries. In addition, exchanging expertise and information in the field of competition policies, opportunities and challenges facing the GCC countries were also on the agenda.
The conference stressed the importance of establishing a competition network for the GCC countries in order to exchange information periodically among various competitive agencies in a manner that supports the work of these institutions.
The participants recommended the necessity of holding an annual meeting to discuss the most important issues and how to analyse them legally and economically. The importance of working on joint studies at the regional level in sectors of mutual interest was also discussed.
