To make most of the perfect weather conditions, an entertainment and tourism forum will be organised in South Sharqiyah, on Friday.
Tourist forums in most places of Oman would be perfect if planned during the winter season. To entertain people in South Sharqiyah and promote touristic aspects there, Al Qabas Sports Team will be organising the forum titles ‘Aseelah Tourist forum 8’. The team is organising it in cooperation with the administration of South Sharqiyah governorate under the Ministry of Tourism.
Speaking to Muscat Daily, Juma Mohammed Salim al Ghailani, head, Al Qabas Sports Team, said, “Over 180 from several parts of Oman will participate in the forum. We are organising the forum for the eighth time in a row. It will be held in Aseelah area in Jalaan Bani Bu Ali in South Sharqiyah. The forum will be held from 7-11am and 4-10pm.
“The morning programme includes a 5.5km marathon from Al Ashkhara area to Aseelah, 18 cyclists from different wilayats will participate in a race, tug of war, sack race and a 400m race, beach soccer, etc. During the evening, a poetry event and Omani folk songs will be held, and more than 280 prizes will be distributed to the participants.”
The forum aims to entertain people and promote tourist places such as mountains, valleys, and coastal areas. “We used social media channels such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter to popularise the event and we got support from some private companies as well.
“For our future events we hope to enter some new activities such as sailing and a motorcycle competitions. I call upon all sports teams to organise such forums to promote Omani tourism and provide entertainment for families.”
