More than 60 beekeepers from different parts of the sultanate will take part in the 13th Omani Honey Market to be held from at Muscat Grand Mall from December 25 to 28. The opening ceremony will be held under the auspices of H E Dr Hamad bin Said bin Sulaiman al Aufi, Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, at 4pm on December 25.
The market, which takes place twice a year, aims to popularise Omani agricultural products, reach out to foreign markets and open up new markets, said Eng Suleiman bin Mahfouz al Toobi, Director General of Agricultural Marketing and Investment.
He added, “We have invited more than 60 beekeepers from different parts of the sultanate to participate in this market. They will present many varieties of honey produced in the lowlands, mountainous regions, as well as desert and coastal areas. They will offer 6,500kg of honey products for sale.”
He said that the market aims to bring together apiarists and Omani honey sellers at one place to present their products and highlight one of the most important products in the agricultural sector.
The market allows visitors to know about different types of honey. It will also showcase methods of packaging and marketing the product as per modern methods. The market will be open from 10am to 10pm.
